Air Monitoring Summaries

We’ve commissioned a company called Bureau Veritas to carry out regular air quality monitoring at The Avenue. The monitoring checks the effect, if any, of the clean-up on local air quality. As a result, we have several permanent monitoring stations in and around The Avenue, and also carry out ad hoc targeted monitoring, for instance when a specific clean-up activity may liberate airborne contaminants. We also monitor meteorological conditions to help us produce fully integrated data; including wind speed and direction, rainfall, barometric pressure, air temperature, relative humidity and solar radiation.

The permanent monitoring stations are located at:

On-site Stations

  • Station A at the NW of site, near to the site village
  • Station B at the NE of site, to the east of the high level stocking area
  • Station C at the SE of site, adjacent to the rail sidings
  • Station D at the SW of site, to the west of Ruberoid

Off-site Stations

  • Station 1 Press Lane, Old Tupton
  • Station 2 Hunloake Park Primary School, Wingerworth
  • Station 4 Village Hall, Eastwood Park, Hasland
  • Station 5 Avenue Farm, Chesterfield
  • Station 6 BT Pensions Office, Mill Lane
  • Station 7 Nursery School, Stretton (Control Station located away from the site)
