Avenue Project Scoops ICE Award                                    20th March 2007

The Avenue Project scooped the prestigious Institution of Civil Engineers’ East Midlands Merit Award for design and innovation last week, despite strong opposition from fourteen other projects. The award is to recognise and encourage excellence in design and construction in civil engineering.
Emda’s Project Manager, Mike Fenton, said he was proud to receive the award on behalf of the sponsors, English Partnerships, Principal Designers, Jacobs, and the numerous people who have worked on the project to achieve this success.

The Avenue has been recognised as a beacon project, utilising the latest technology from the UK and abroad, to solve the complex remediation problems left from decades of industrial contamination at the site.  The aim of the project is to turn the site into an attractive area for leisure and housing which everyone can be proud of.
