Construction of the thermal treatment plant area is well underway, with work this month focusing on building the mixing pit, output storage bins and the 30m high chimney. The concrete haul road to allow transportation of contaminated sediments from the lagoon area to the thermal mixing pit is also nearing completion. Excavation of the water treatment ponds continue, and there have been no adverse health, safety or environmental issues over recent months as preparations for the start of remediation work to start in earnest from September.
