Sheep and Cattle move into the Avenue....

29 May 2007
Seven hebridean sheep were introduced onto the Avenue Washlands Nature reserve on 16th May 2007 by Derbyshire Wildlife Trust. These animals are from DWT's own stock herd and as well as providing biodiversity within the reserve, will help to keep the grass short!!

Two highland cattle have also been introduced onto the old sidings pastureland to the east of the railway between Mill Lane and Tupton on teh 29th May. These hardy animals are well suited to the Derbyshire climate and will make the Avenue their home.
